Ireland- French Limestone
This is a very hard limestone, similar to Kilkenny or Carlow limestone but different in colour. There are many different types of French limestone but generally it is a creamy, off white colour.
French Limestone general finishes would be, sawn, honed, polished, bushhammered, flamed, tooled and also brushed. It is a very durable material which doesn’t fade.
It has many uses including external cladding. The difference between French Limestone and Irish Limestone is that it holds its polish externally where as Irish doesn’t. The reason for this is it doesn’t hold the moisture like Kilkenny Limestone does. Mainly used for cladding and flooring it is a very durable stone.
